Anyone remember Conversation Hearts? There are two obvious things we remember about them. One, they taste terrible (super chalky)! Two, each heart shaped candy had a sweet little love letter written on them. Now we know that "MAD 4 U," "DREAM TEAM," and "HEART OF GOLD" might not be the most romantic messages anyone can get, but we think that Brach’s Candy knew what they were doing when creating this iconic candy. It's often said that actions speak louder than words, but we all know words of affirmation last much longer than a box of chocolates. What if instead of focusing on giving material gifts and (over)spending, we gave our loved ones an encouragement with affirming words?
Now don’t get us wrong, we LOVE heart shaped balloons and a bouquet of fresh flowers, but this year we wanted to redirect the cliché valentines gifts into a meaningful experience for loved ones to share. As we began to think about the moments in our lives that allow for the most conversation- immediately we knew it was around a table. Imagine a beautiful table, surrounded by your favorite people... it is the perfect opportunity to be intentional with the words that you share with one another. So today on the blog we are going to share with you our DIY Valentine Party ideas, simply inspired by “words” of love!
The first DIY idea we are excited to share are these adorable name place tags. These little (intentional) name tags serve as place cards at our colorful table scape. They're not only functional for your party but they're also super personal! Each tag was created specifically for someone in mind, and we chose words to affirm all of us at J&K Design Studio! These tags are budget-friendly, and you can customize them however you'd like. We used a simple, clean font, and cut the edges just slightly at the top of the tags. No need for messy crafting, we just used simple acrylic paint and a roller to create that pink texture on the tag. Grab someone with pretty handwriting (or print your own variation), and personalize them until your heart's content (pun intended). Finish it off with some colorful twine or string and you're all set.
The second DIY we have for you are these super cute party cups! These cups can still be personal, but with a little extra sass! All you need for this craft is a sleeve of plastic cocktail cups, a red sharpie, and a good cocktail recipe. When brainstorming sassy sayings, we realized that song lyrics and southern expressions seemed to make us smile the most. Here are a few of our favorites to get you started... "YOU'RE THE BEES KNEES", "YOU'RE A GEM", and "WHO RUNS THE WORLD?".
And don't worry... we would never forget to share a good cocktail recipe!
