It is 2017, Happy New Year! J&K is so thrilled to welcome this new year! Even though nothing magical actually happens the night of December 31st (other than champagne and fireworks!), we all know that it feels as if we are all able to punch a massive restart button when we roll out of bed on January 1st. A new year brings the excitement of new experiences, new goals, and the opportunity for a fresh start. Other than getting your Kitchen remodeled (we are waiting on your call), what are your New Years Goals?! This year each of us in the J&K office have our own personal goals, but we also have a few as an office and today we want to share one with you!
Current mood: Greenery. One of our office goals for 2017 is to be more environmentally aware, we want to go green! We are not always fans of new trends, but we could not be more excited that "Going Green" is a forecasted trend for 2017. Every year Pantone chooses one color to represent the current culture, so it only makes sense that Pantone's color of the year is Greenery. This color is a representation of growth, unity and restoration for both man and nature. We are excited to embark on this new adventure of being more environmentally aware, and we are thrilled that the entire design industry has made itself a part of this goal!
Hopefully the infographic above will give you some helpful hints and resources on how to "go green" at your office and in your home. It might look daunting, but there are several small ways we believe you can get started! Read below for three easy and effective ways for each of us to take a step towards living a greener life!
1. Purchase a reusable water bottle - specifically a glass or metal one. The less plastic and paper used the better! We love the metal Swell bottles, Kate Spade's new glass water bottle, and Spartan Shop's copper bottle.
2. Purchase reusable grocery bags. Instead of using hundreds of plastic grocery bags every week, buy a couple of reusable market bags to use every time you visit the grocery store. Some of our favorite ones include: "Oh Kale Yes" canvas tote, the set of 4 Shopping Cart Trolley bags, and repurposing those large blue Ikea bags (we know you have some).
3. Visit and support your local farmers markets and farm to table restaurants. Here are a few of our favorites that are located in the Nashville area: Sunflower Café, The 404 Kitchen, and Lockland Table. All of these restaurants use produce that is either grown in their own garden or is sourced from a farm located less than 100 miles away.
