Happy Holidays!.... We can say that now, right?! Here at the office we are beyond excited about the holiday season. As we all know, the holiday season is meant for thanksgiving, for celebration, and for spending time with those we love (oh and football...for some).
For many of us, the majority of our time is focused on getting everyone around the table. We bake for days, spend hours prepping the turkey, and visit the grocery store at least one hundred times. Although the family and the food are what really matter most, if you are anything like us, the turkey tastes much better when the table is perfectly decorated. But... lets be real, who has the extra time or money to devote to tablescaping. Well, we are hear to make your Thanksgiving dinner the best it can be. Your table can be beautiful with little prep and with little expense! Today we want to share with you two of our very own tablescapes, they are so simple, yet will add that extra touch of hospitality to your holiday celebration!
Where do I start?
To make things easier for us, we decided to pick a color scheme for our tablescapes. Choosing a color scheme narrows down your search. When you know what you are looking for, so much time is saved! Here are three tips for picking a color scheme.
1. Choose colors you already love and tend to use. Maybe you can reinvent and use something you already own.
2. Because its Thanksgiving, throw in a warm color... red, yellows, oranges or even some gold and copper. You cannot go wrong choosing a color that represents the season- just step outside and choose a color!
3. Choose one neutral color. This color is not the focal point of the tablescape, but it is the base. This color will tie everything together and will most likely allow everything to coordinate well together.
For this tablescape, our color scheme incorporated Sherwin William's Blackberry, Fabulous Grape, Rosaline Pearl, and Bakelite Gold. We were excited to use a vibrant color that might be unexpected and a little less traditional. The purples and reds incorporated in this tablescape are very rich, it is super colorful without being overwhelming. Other than all of the beautiful flora used, the only items actually purchased were the green glass vases and the gold moose antler bowl. This involved one trip to Target and one trip to TJmaxx and BAM!....
P.S. - Incorporating textiles into your tablescape is always a great idea! If you feel like you are lacking texture, just add a simple runner or some really pretty napkins.
For this tablescape our color scheme involved more of the traditional seasonal colors... Sherwin William's Yam, Honeycomb, Relentless Olive, and Utaupeia. Even though the color scheme chosen is expected... it definitely is not boring! We were excited to incorporate copper accents to spice things up! If you love using metal, copper is definitely the metal of the season! This tablescape is super natural and very low maintenance. For those of you who are more free-spirited, and would prefer a more organic and loose tablescape- this is for you! We are fully convinced that the Pampus Grass gives this tablescape its purpose, there is so much texture and movement! The best part about this table decor is that it makes a statement without being in your face, you can actually pass the peas without dodging a tall centerpiece.... HALLELUJAH.
