Here at J&K Design we fully embody the saying, "Work hard, Play hard" and we would highly recommend living this way to anyone! In the office our work flow is intense, we are constantly creating ideas, problem solving, making decision after decision, all while keeping up the office moral. Sounds super fun right? IT TOTALLY IS... but lets be honest, the hustle of an Interior Designer is hard. The challenge for many people, especially for those of us in a creative field, is to find the balance of work and play. I am learning how important it is to take time to get away, to be recharged and to let yourself be inspired outside of the office. I think I speak for all of the ladies when I say that we are most inspired and energized by two things. 1.) Our clients- their enthusiasm, their excitement, their ideas, and OBIVOUSLY their finished home! 2.) PLAYING HARD!!- this might look different for all of us but it always includes; rest, relaxation, and adventure!
If you are reading this and cannot remember the last time you went on a road trip, felt the sand between your toes, or even just took a bike ride through your neighborhood, I hope you can hear me cheering you on... PLAY HARD! PLAY HARD! PLAY HARD! To encourage you to take time to recharge, we wanted to show you what we did with our time off this Summer... and stay tuned- we are rested and feeling inspired so we cannot wait to show off some new projects soon!
This Summer Stephanie and her husband Jarrod celebrated their 3rd wedding anniversary exploring Bar Harbor, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts. Who wouldn't want to spend their days exploring lighthouses and chowing down on some fresh lobster (notice Stephanie double fisting those massive lobster)?! Oh and lets discuss her Airbnb arrangements, she stayed at a flower farm, I repeat, she slept at a FLOWER FARM- we are all jealous.
Just simply stating that Karrie knows how to party hard is a major understatement- our fearless leader is the life of the party! This summer Karrie spent her vacation relaxing at the beach with a book in her hand (nerd alert), floating in the ever so popular donut floaty, and getting super sun kissed. On the weekends, Karrie floated the river with her girls... AKA some of Nashville's best Interior Designers and spent lots of summer nights enjoying a juicy watermelon with her precious niece.
Although I didn't get to lounge by the pool everyday sipping out of my pineapple twisty straw, I certainly did enjoy my first summer in Nashville! Playing hard comes very natural to me, but after my first year of working full time, I was very excited to enjoy some time away from the office. The highlights of my summer were exploring my new city, hiking with friends, spending time with family, and road tripping through the West!
It is your turn, go forth and party hard Nashville! - Abby
